The Departmental Organization
Since 2001, Oasi Institute provides healthcare services through four Medical Departments, which are a core point of the organizational system.
Each Medical Department includes a number of Units which are in charge of assuring a consistent provision of healthcare services and research projects; Units have also to rationalize the use of available resources, promote effective learning processes and development of knowledge through periodical auditing sessions.
- Department of Intellectual Disabilities: 266 beds (diagnosis=56; rehabilitation=201). It deals with prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and research in the field of congenital and acquired causes of Intellectual Disabilities and other comorbid diseases or other complicating conditions.
Director: Dr. Corrado Romano
- Department of Brain Aging: 78 beds (diagnosis=24; rehabilitation=54). It deals with prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and research in the field of congenital and acquired causes of diseases typical of the Elderly Age, including Alzheimer’s Disease and comorbid diseases or other complicating conditions.

- Department of Surgery: 8 beds, two of which for subintensive therapy addressed to patients who have received a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability or Dementia, in the following areas: ophthalmology, ENT, dentistry, digestive endoscopy and urology.
Director: Dr. Vincenzo Neri
- Department of Laboratories: it includes the following Units: Unit of Chemical and Microbiological Analysis; Unit of Medical Genetics; Laboratory of Neuropharmacology. This Department supports clinical and translational research activities, especially for genetic diagnosis, rare and metabolic diseases.

The Unit of Neuro-imaging and Neuro-radiology and the Unit of Pharmacy are part of the Interdepartmental Services whose activities go across all the Medical Departments.
