The Unit of Chemical and Microbiological Analysis performs routine haematochemical tests for a thorough check-up at patient’s admission, laboratory diagnostics for endocrine-metabolic diseases, including growth deficits, as well as tests for hereditary diseases such as adreno-genital syndrome (21-hydroxylase deficiency), biochemical markers related to oxidative stress, neuro-metabolic screening and lysosomal enzymes activities related to genetic diseases.
Neurometabolic screening, vitamin status (HPLC), lysosomal enzymes, antiepileptic drugs dosage (HPLC), (vitamin A, E, D3, homocysteine).
Research activities includes vascular cerebral disease, Down syndrome, Alzheimer's disease.
Lymphocyte typing, proteomic microarrays for specific IgE, PRIST, RAST, tryptase
Radioimmunoassay (RIA) and Enzyme Immunoassay (ECLIA, EIA, ELISA) for markers of metabolic and endocrine gland disorders: pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas, gonads (ovaries, testes); markers of bone metabolism; markers of glucose and blood insulin metabolism, hypertension markers (hydrosaline balance), markers of growth deficits: growth hormone (hGH), IGF-1 binding proteins (IGFBPs), prognostic ovarian reserve markers: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), inhibin B, tumor marker of the female reproductive system (HE4), evaluation of the dynamic function of the endocrine glands after stimulation.
Research activities are focused on Adipocytokines in adipose tissue in mental retardation and neurodegenerative disorders.
