Diagnostic–Therapeutic Admission
Admissions fordiagnostic or therapeutic purposes have to be booked based on a previously-scheduled intervention plan.
The average length of stay is about 10 days in the Department of Intellectual Disability and about 5 days in the Department of Brain Aging.
As for the Department of Intellectual Disability, after the first admission, follow-up (with shorter durations) can be planned, based on the indications by the multidisciplinary team, with the purpose of re-evaluating patient’s clinical picture. Admissions can be scheduled and booked by the patient, his/her family, the GP or by a local social health facility.
REHABILITATION
Rehabilitation treatments can be scheduled following the first diagnostic admission, when a multidisciplinary team develops a therapeutic-rehabilitation plan to be implemented in the rehabilitation treatment periods.
SURGERY
Surgery admission is only permitted to patients who have previously received a diagnosis of intellectual disability or brain aging. Minor surgical interventions are therefore performed after careful diagnostic evaluations that provides exhaustive clinical information about the cases undergoing surgery.
Day Hospital
The Day Hospital service consists in planning a number of hospital admissions for patients who need multi-professional and multi-specialty healthcare services, to be provided in the morning hours of the day. Day Hospital admissions can have multiple purposes: diagnostics, rehabilitation, treatment, and are scheduled by the physician who has been in charge of the patient during the first admission.
Day Surgery
Day Surgery service consists in planning a short hospital admission for the patient either to undergo minor surgical interventions, or to receive diagnostic and/or therapeutic invasive and semi-invasive treatments, with local anesthesia.
Day Surgery is usually performed during daytime, however an overnight stay can be scheduled as well.
Admission is scheduled by the physician who has previously taken care of the patient.
Day Service
Day Service provides minor surgical interventions that can be performed in one day (no overnight stay). Admissions are scheduled by the physician who has previously evaluated the patient.
